Carole Ferreira-Cerca was born on the French Atlantic coast ; her grandfather was from Portugal, and she has relatives in Venezuela. In her twenties, she moved to Paris and began to paint, demonstrating an instinctive colorer’s talent and exceptional sense for chromatic textures.

Instead of using the traditional easel, she prefers to paint on the floor to tame the space around the canvas and play with the different perspectives of the surface. Carole combines colors and mixed media, such as silk paper or architects’ blueprints, to enhance texture and create relief in her works.

After living and exhibiting in Washington from 2000 to 2003, she now lives in Miami, an inspiring environment infusing a new energy in her paintings.
